25-year-old woman found dead in Kalkaji house

Sources said the door to Kaur’s room on the fourth floor of the building was found locked from outside,leading to the suspicion that she was murdered by someone known to her.

The police added that the victim was working as a project manager at a well-known company in Kalkaji. Her landlord’s son,Anshuman Gupta,0 told Newsline,“She was working in a different company in Kalkaji earlier and had shifted to the IT segment of the new company in Kalkaji on July 2. We last saw her alive and well on Tuesday.”

“She was living here for the past one and a half years. She did not have many visitors,” he added.

Kaur had not reported for work for the last three days and had not applied for a leave of absence either,the police said. Her friends in office tried calling her on her mobile,which went unanswered. On Wednesday,her mobile phone was found switched off.

On Thursday,one of her friends called her landlord,Manohar Lal Gupta,and told him that she was not answering their calls and had not turned up for work for the last three days.

Neighbours too noticed a foul odour emanating from her room and informed Gupta. Gupta then went to the fourth floor and found the gate leading to the floor locked from outside,after which he called the Police Control Room. Police officials said they found another lock on the victim’s door as well. They broke open both the locks and found Kaur’s decomposed body son the bed. Police officials said there were no external injuries

Her body has been transferred to the AIIMS Trauma Centre mortuary. While prima facie,the police suspect she was strangulated to death,a postmortem would reveal the exact cause of death,officials said.

Kaur was originally from Moga in Punjab. Her parents have been informed.
