(File) A two-year-old boy died after he was allegedly mowed down by a tractor while he was playing outside his house in Northeast Delhi’s Bhajanpura on Sunday. The Delhi Police has arrested the tractor driver, identified as Idris Khan.
The incident took place around 1.40 pm near Delhi Darbar Road in the area. Locals and police rushed to the spot and pulled out the boy.
DCP (Northeast) Joy Tirkey said: “Staff rushed to the spot and detained the driver along with his tractor. The accused is a resident of Loni, Ghaziabad, and was hired on a contract basis to carry out some work at a house.”
“The boy was rushed to Panchsheel Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His parents took the child to Ganga Ram Hospital for examination; doctors gave the same opinion. The child had succumbed to injuries at the spot,” said the DCP.
The body was shifted to GTB Hospital’s mortuary for an autopsy. The accused has been booked in a road traffic accident case. Police said he didn’t see the child.
