A 16-year-old student of Class X was found murdered, with his hands and legs tied up at his house in Ranhola,West Delhi,on Saturday night.

Guddu Yadav’s family was in Bihar attending a marriage function and he was alone at home at the time of the incident. Police said the boy was allegedly strangled to death with a gas pipe.

According to police, prima facie it appears to be a case of robbery gone bad. However, they have not been able to ascertain if anything was stolen from the house.

A senior police officer said,“The house was found to be ransacked, but we do not know if anything is missing. The boy’s hands and legs were tied with a blanket and he was then strangled to death. We have sent the body for post-mortem examination and have informed the family about the death.”

The incident was reported after Guddu’s uncle went to his house around 11:20 pm to check on him. “Guddu was alone at home and was not responding to phone calls. His uncle got worried and went to check on him. He made the PCR call,” police said.

A case of murder has been registered against unidentified persons at the Ranhola police station. Investigation is underway.
