When the residents of Millenium City woke up on Sunday morning, one look at the overcast sky told them that their monsoon nightmare was far from over. To add to their already-rising fear, the body of an auto mechanic was found in an open drain at an upmarket locality in the area.
The incessant rains over the last few days had brought Gurgaon to a standstill, with the area getting plagued by traffic snarls and rainwater entering the offices as well as residences located therein.
It seems as if we are living in a slum. Whenever it rains, water enters our homes. We have paid a fortune for our house and are paying lump sum amounts as maintenance charges to DLF Ltd,and it all seems to be just for living in the fear of having floods after every rain, said Gaurav Sharma,a resident of DLF Phase I.
But auto mechanic Manish Sharma,a resident of Maruti Vihar, was not so fortunate. The body of the 27-year-old was fished out of an open drain by fire official department officials in the upmarket DLF Phase I area. According to sources, the accident had occurred when he came to attend to a complaint lodged by a motorist.
Meanwhile, water continued to flood into houses through walls and roofs weakening houses across Gurgaon. However,no casualties were reported due to this.
