The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has completed registering 1.11 lakh employees in its biometric attendance system, and is now taking steps to ensure equal distribution of work.
With the civic body now in possession of the actual number of employees in each zone,a survey has been ordered by the Appointments and Promotion Committee of MCD to find out the number of employees in each department, and measure it against the requirement.
For instance,if there are 50 gardeners in a particular zone that has fewer parks, the survey will suggest places where the extra gardeners can be placed. “Earlier, there was no such databases. That resulted in cases where as many as 50 people were put to work in an office that required just 12 employees. It led to unequal distribution of work and responsibilities. Once the survey is completed, the MCD will function in a much more efficient manner,” said a senior official.
