A 32-year-old depressed man allegedly hanged himself in his rented house in Peenya Thursday night,blaming the Manmohan Singh government. Police suspect Santosh Kumar HA,a native of Hassan district,was mentally unstable. The bachelor worked at a Bata showroom for Rs 10,000 a month. I am depressed. The government headed by Manmohan Singh has allowed many people to settle in India who are killing innocent Indians. He did not declare war on Pakistan and Afghanistan. I am depressed and am ending my life, his suicide note reads.

Two persons were killed in the city in separate road accidents. A 35-year-old cyclist was run over by a lorry in Madivala Thursday night. Cab driver Lakshmidhar Siyal alias Babu of Somasandra Palya was going towards Haralur Gate on his bicycle around 9.40 pm when the speeding lorry hit him from behind. The police said he died on the spot. A 50-year-old man going to the Baptist hospital near Hebbal for treatment died after he was knocked down by a taxi outside the hospital on Bangalore International Airport Road Friday morning. The police said Prabhakaran of Mutyalanagar in Mattikere was crossing the road to go to the hospital when the cab heading to the airport hit him. The Kerala native died on the spot.

Harassed by colleague,woman ends life

A 41-year-old garment factory worker committed suicide by setting herself on fire in Peenya Friday morning. The police said Puttamma,who lived in Hosaguddadahalli on Mysore Road and worked at Swan Silks in Peenya Stage-II,doused herself in petrol at around 10.40 am in the store of the factory and set herself ablaze. They suspect harassment by a co-worker called Murali drove he to suicide.

2 illegal immigrants held for kidnap bid

Two illegal immigrants from Bangladesh were caught trying to kidnap a nine-month-old in Bettadasapura,Electronics City,Friday. Neighbours and onlookers tied the two to an electric pole before handing them over to the police. DCP (south-east) T D Pawar said Raja (21) and Salaam (20) were ragpickers who entered the country without passports three years ago. They tried to kidnap Krish,son of Uttar Pradesh natives Rinku and Kamlesh,who was playing outside his house. Kamlesh,a carpenter,had gone to work. Rinku,seeing the men flee with her baby,raised an alarm.
