Tamil Nadu legislator EVKS Elangovan recovering from congestive heart failure
Elangovan recently assumed office as MLA after he won the bypoll in Erode East by a record margin against AIADMK candidate K S Thennarasu.

Senior Congress leader and Erode East Assembly constituency MLA EVKS Elangovan who was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai last week has tested negative for Covid-19. According to the bulletin issued by the hospital on Wednesday, Elangovan is recovering well from congestive heart failure in the Intensive Care Unit.
Elangovan was admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre (SRMC) on March 15 reportedly with a mild chest infection. Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian visited the veteran politician and the doctors at the hospital informed him that the legislator is fine and would be discharged soon.
On Wednesday, a video clip from the hospital was shared ot Twitter in which Elangovan said that he is doing fine and will be discharged in two days.

The hospital authorities said that Elangovan was admitted with coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, and Covid-19 infection. “Now his Covid is negative and recovering from congestive heart failure in the Intensive Care Unit,” the bulletin noted.
The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) also took to Twitter and shared the image of Elangovan from the hospital and noted that their former president was fine and would reach home soon and urged people not to believe any rumours.

Elangovan was recently sworn in as MLA after he won the bypoll in Erode East by a record margin against AIADMK candidate K S Thennarasu. The assembly seat fell vacant following the demise of Congress MLA and Elangovan’s son Thirumahan Everaa.
