The once not-so-happening spot in the city,Industrial Area,is waking up to find large scale hospitality in its midst. After Hometel and The Pearl, the latest to open doors is Lemon Tree. The independent national chain of upscale business and leisure hotels,Lemon Tree Chandigarh offers 81 rooms. The location might be a bit of a deterrent, its housed around godowns and factories, but we found their take on hospitality refreshingly different. Targeting majorly a corporate traveller,Lemon Tree, true to its name, presents itself as a hotel with spunk. Its hard not to notice that the staff wears a ponytail with a cutesy bow and from the lobby to the cafe and rooms,a fresh, citrusy fragrance lingers. The choice of colours like lemon yellow, basil green and orange, gives it a cheerful look. Like its contemporaries around the area, the hotel packs in essential features like a well-equipped business centre, fitness gym,a mini-spa and a rooftop swimming pool. Guests can choose from an array of cuisines including Indian,European,American and pan-Asian at the 24-hour coffee shop Citrus Cafe or Slounge, the bar and lounge.
That apart,we liked the fact that the hotel also features a separate floor for women and a specially designed room for people with disabilities. We also hire people with hearing and speech disabilities as part of our staff across the country and sign language is part of the hotels training programme, informed the hotels president Rahul Pandit. The policy to adopt a local street dog as their mascot wins them brownie points.
The room tariff is priced at Rs 2,699 onwards.
