CII raises a toast to the girl child at an all-organic dinner

It’s that time of the year when CII’s Young Indians (YI) Chandigarh Chapter rolls out its annual organic dinner in aid of the underprivileged girl child. “It is a challenge to source organic food for this theme dinner but compared to last time,It was easier to source the ingredients from parts of Haryana and

Uttarakhand,” says Arshinder Kaur, environment chair,YI,Chandigarh Chapter. “This is an ideal menu to remind ourselves that what we eat affects the health of our planet,” says another member. The dinner, held on Friday night,is an effort by CII YI to reach out to people and bring them together to contribute to the growth of the girl child as well as enjoy a fun-filled evening.

Rolling out the organic dinner was a team of chefs led by Sanjeev Verma, principal,Chitkara School of Hospitality. “I have used organic food before but never in such huge quantity and variety,” he says. Says Charu Mathur, regional director,CII,Northern Region,“The event was meant to promote organic food and also the cause of education of the girl child. Last year too we launched CII — Nanhi Chhan scholarship scheme and supported 30 underprivileged girls.”
