Parlance,the annual event of Wordz,a debating society formed by Chandigarh-based students,has got bigger and better,with a round on Spelling Bee also included. “The aim is to provide a platform for the students in their formative stage,” say convenors Kanav Dosajh and Atishi Batra.

With 90 students participating in Spelling Bee,Riya Virdi of St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School won the Best Speller prize and Nayantara Singh of Strawberry Fields World School bagged the runner-up trophy.

The topic for debate was ‘Peace flows through the barrel of a gun’ and saw 57 students participating. With Krishan Kant and Dr Kanupriya as judges,Aadidev Bansal of New Public School was declared the Best Speaker For The Motion and Aanchal Arora of the same school won the Best Speaker Against the Motion Award. The Best Rebuttal award was given to Ekam Singh Gill of St Kabir Public School and the Best Team award was given to New Public School.
