Woman sets herself on fire

A 26-year-old woman set herself on fire at a public park on Friday afternoon. She left a suicide note,in which she blamed her parents for the extreme step. Sonia,the deceased,was a resident of Amritsar and had come here to stay with her maternal grandfather in Basti Guzan area.

The police said there was no one in the park when she set herself ablaze. They said a few passersby tried to douse the flames but could not save Sonia. According to the suicide note addressed to her grandfather,the police said,she wanted to marry a person of her choice but her parents were opposing it. A case has been registered and the body sent for postmortem.
