For murdering her husband in connivance with paramour,a local court on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to Mohini,21,and Mohali resident Kuldeep,29. The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Preeti Sahani also imposed a fine of Rs 4,000 each.
The judge observed,They have taken the life of the young man due to their illicit relationship. The act committed by them is shameless and heinous. The convicts do not deserve any leniency in the matter of sentence.
The case dates back to July 2010,when Manimajra resident and Mohinis husband Dharam Singh,26,was found strangulated to death. His body was found lying on the cot on the rooftop of the house in the morning. Initially, the crime was projected to be a robbery scene, but later the police arrested the two for the murder. Mohini had also made an extra-judicial confession before Jagpal, the brother of the deceased, that the two had allegedly strangulated Dharam.
Mohini and Dharam had a son from their five-year-old marriage. They had stayed at Kuldeep Singhs house as tenants for five months before shifting to the city. Mohini and Kuldeep liked each other and when Dharam came to know about it,he changed the house.
Kuldeep kept visiting Mohini at their new address as well. On the day of the murder,Mohini and Kuldeep had exchanged several calls. The call details were placed on record.
Dharam was drunk on the day of the murder. Kuldeep was already present in the house when Dharam entered the house. The two then strangulated him with a salwar string and in the morning placed his body on the cot in the verandah in the early morning.
