Winnability only criterion for Lok Sabha candidates: Chautala

Setting aside all speculation about allotment of seats of Lok Sabha in Haryana,INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala clarified that a ticket would be given to only those candidates who have chances of winning in the coming Lok Sabha election.

Setting aside all speculation about allotment of seats of Lok Sabha in Haryana,INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala clarified that a ticket would be given to only those candidates who have chances of winning in the coming Lok Sabha election. He said there was no consideration of party share and the candidate with chances of winning would be selected with the main objective to defeat the Congress.

Chautala was addressing a district-level vijay sankalp rally,organised jointly by the BJP and INLD at New Anaj Mandi in Ambala City today. He said the media had been carrying misleading news about seat sharing between the two alliance partners in Haryana. He said leaders of both the parties had a consensus on the choice of candidates who have the potential to defeat Congress candidates and he may be of any party. The decision would be taken jointly by the leaders of the alliance partners after evaluation of the candidates’ capabilities. He said,“We had entered into an alliance on principles to throw away the corrupt Congress government.” He added that there was no differences among them. The INLD supremo demanded that the Congress government in Haryana headed by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda should bring out a white paper on advancing free loans,waiving power bills,installation of “bogus” foundation stones,lathicharge on labourers and guest teachers and threats to traders for ransom.

BJP state president Atam Prakash Manchanda said his party would abide by the directions of the NDA with regard to candidates selected for the Lok Sabha elections. He said bank loans up to Rs 50,000 should be waived and further loans should be advanced at 4 per cent interest. He called upon the people to change the “corrupt” Congress government.

INLD secretary general Sampat Singh,state president Ashok Arora,former BJP president Rattan Lal Kataria,former MLAs Kamla Verma,Veena Chhiber,Jasbir Malaur,Jaswinder Sandhu,F.C. Aggarwal,Dewan Pawan Sahni,Kanwar Pal,former MP Kailasho Saini,Dr K D Sharma,district presidents Balinder Landa,Shushil Goel and Sanjay Sharma also addressed the rally.
