Sheras Day Out
It looks like Salman Khans film Bodyguard is a tribute to his personal guard Shera, who has been at the forefront of the films promotional campaigns. On many occasions,Khan has termed Shera as his trusted aide someone who he can trust with his family and all his girlfriends. And though Shera is ready to lay down his life for the actor,he is concerned about Khans marriage. God willing,it will soon happen, he says. Having worked for the actor for 15 years,Shera insists not even the highest pay cheque will make him quit his job. He puts it poetically:
Jab tak iss jaan main jaan hai,Shera ke paas bas Salman Khan hai. Should we say well done Shera or well done Salman?
Plug for Unplugged
In yet another effort to revive the youth connect,MTV is following up Coke Studio with the launch of the Indian version of MTVs famous show Unplugged. The show, that goes on floors in August, will feature artistes such as Rabbi Shergill,Shilpa Rao and Atif Aslam, apart from bands such as Strings,Indian Ocean and Euphoria. Clearly,MTV has made an effort to ensure there is no duplication of artistes with Coke Studio and yet the show makes a connect with the desi audience. Unplugged is likely to go on air in October.
Star Monies
Looks like Bollywood stars are turning out to be among the biggest drivers of television business in India. After being paid exorbitant fees to host reality and game shows, they have become the focus of UTVs new channel. UTV Stars, which is to go on air on August 14,is an entertainment channel dedicated to Bollywood gossip and film celebrities. Interestingly though, television is not the only medium UTV plans to target. A high-definition channel,UTV Stars will have a 360-degree presence and will also be available on the internet and across mobile networks. With yet another source to draw advertising revenue,no wonder stars are hiking up their fee.
