Vashu Bhagnani is a happy man for come June 12,and his son Vicky Bhagnani will finally be able to make his grand debut as planned by daddy dearest in Kal Kisne Dekha Hai. Not only this, all the films that were lined up – Kaminay,Kambakht Ishq,New York are going to see the light of the silver screen next Friday because the tiff’s finally over. That’s right,it’s all over the news – Mukesh Bhatt’s persistence and demand for equal status, respect and profit has been heard and matters have been resolved. “It’s such a relief,” managers at PVR and Fame take a deep breath. “It was hurting the business so much,we were practically sitting free, with no revenue flowing in,” Sonia Sharma of PVR is now waiting for the list of releases next week. It’s the same at Fame where Pankaj Kanotra is all set to play Kal Kisne Dekha Hai and Zor Laga Ke Bhaiyya. “We are back in action!” he smiles. “It’s our bread and butter,we’ve suffered enough and I’m glad it’s over,” adds filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee.

What had, according to industry sources sparked off as an ego issue between Yash Raj and miltiplex owners had full blown into a nation-wide strike for over two months now. While the audiences passed time with television premieres and IPL,the industry and multiplex made a loss to the tune of Rs 300 crore! But now, according to the new agreement,Deepak Asher,President MAI and Inox states that revenue sharing will be performance based. It goes like this: 50 per cent in the first week,42.5 in the second and about 35 in the third. If revenue is more that Rs 17.5 crores in six multiplexes then they’ll take an additional 2.5 per cent. Percentages apart,it’s the cinegoer who’ll at last get to see some of the most talked about films of this year. In the meantime, enjoy the posters of New York and now we can say – book your tickets!
