Victim identifies three accused

On the first day of the in-camera proceedings,the 18-year-old victim identified the three accused – Vikrant Chaudhary,Madan Yadav and Sumit. The fourth accused,Sushil,is still absconding.

The victim said two of the victims had dragged her inside a Zen (DL 7C 5286) car when she was standing in a market at Kalka and threw a blanket over her. The boys,who were four in number,then drove the car uphill and drugged her. She added that the accused then took the car to a secluded spot in Himachal Pradesh and raped her. It was when she became conscious that she found herself in semi-naked state. She also stated that she was taken to a hospital in Solan when their car collided with a truck near Dharampur. The accused along with the girl,were injured in the accident. The girl also claimed that she was “forced” to identify herself as wife of one of the accused,Vikrant.

The incident had happened in the evening of January 9. On receiving tip-off from witnesses,the district police had alerted the cops in Solan who set up a barricade in the area. The car was intercepted late in the evening but sensing danger,the accused had driven off towards Kalka. It was then that their car collided with a truck which was parked by the roadside. One of the accused,Sushil,sustained minor injuries in the accident and fled from the spot. The others,who received grievous injuries,were arrested.
