UP man convicted of raping minor

The Court of Additional. District and Sessions Judge Shalini S Nagpal on Tuesday convicted a man for raping a Class X student.

The Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Shalini S Nagpal on Tuesday convicted a man for raping a Class X student. The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment on December 6.

Mother of the victim,a resident of Village Khuda Ali Sher,filed a complaint on February 2 in which she alleged that the accused,Istakhar Ahmad,resident of Uttar Pradesh,had raped her 17-year-old daughter a month ago and threatened her not to tell about it to anybody.

According to the complainant,her daughter stopped talking to family members and was usually found sad after the incident. When the complainant asked her several times,the victim told her about her ordeal.

According to the victim,in January this year when she was going for her tuition to a place near her house,she met Ahmad,whose house was on the way. He called her inside his house and raped her. Later he told her that he would marry her and she should not tell anything to anyone about the incident. When the victim denied,Ahmad threatened her that he would kill her if she told anybody.

On February 2,after her mother’s pestering,she told her about the incident,following which a compliant was filed at Khuda Ali Sher police station.

A case against Ahmad was registered against the under 376 ( Punishment for rape),section 363 ( Punishment for kidnapping) and section 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal code. He was also booked under section 4 of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
