Two sisters found dead,may have taken poison by mistake,say cops

The incident came to light when Sudesh and Mukesh were rushed to civil hospital in Karnal by their neighbours.

“Nobody was home,except the sisters. While the children were in school,their husbands — who work as oil-tanker drivers — had gone on their routine duties. We have spoken to the children and the husbands,but nothing is clear as yet. The parents of the sisters are not accusing anybody. It appears that they may have consumed something toxic by mistake,” said an investigating officer.

According to the police,the deceased did not have any altercation with their husbands. Their neighbours have also told the police that they lived in a joint family and there was nothing wrong in their marital relations.

“Everybody,including the women’s parents,relatives and husbands were present at the hospital. They were all quite cordial. But we are still recording statements. The situation will be more clear,once the postmortem report is finalised,” the officer added.

Following the postmortem,the bodies were handed over to the kin of the deceased.
