Two held for snatching

The Chandigarh Police today arrested two youths — Hari Kishan and Varinder Singh — residents of Sector 7,Chandigarh,on charges of snatching a mobile phone. The two had allegedly snatched a mobile phone belonging to one Roshan Lal,a resident of Kishangarh on Saturday evening around 7 pm when Lal,who works as an attendant at a showroom in Sector 7,was returning home.

The two who were on a Honda Activa and tried to snatch Roshan Lal’s mobile phone at the Sector 7/26 dividing road. When Roshan resisted,one of the snatchers took out a knife and threatened Roshan of dire consequences. The two fled away with the phone but Roshan noted down the registration number of the two wheeler. After preliminary investigation,the police traced the address of the snatchers and arrested them today. While Hari Kishan’s father is a clerk,Varinder Singh’s mother is a clerk in Department of Labour Bureau. The two accused,who are in their mid twenties,have been remanded to two-day police custody.

An FIR on charges of theft has been registered against the duo in Police Station,Sector 26,Chandigarh. ens
