Three city artists – Vishakha Jindal, Ratika Singh and Samia Singh – have conceptualised a series of workshops, which will focus on photography and art.
The 16-day Lightbug Photography Workshop for beginners and amateurs (above the age of 16), starting Saturday, is designed as a step-by-step and simplified introduction to the art and digital work.
While Vishakha and Ratika will hold workshops on photography, Samia’s classes will mostly focus on art.
Vishakha Jindal, an artist and photographer, and Ratika Singh, a filmmaker and photographer, have been exploring the various facets of the art of photography for the past many years.
Vishakha’s work is conceptual and diverse with the use of unique colours and compositions. Singh, a film graduate, has explored story-telling through her lens and is passionate about travelling, bringing back her observations and stories through images.

“We (Vishakha and Ratika) have sound technical backgrounds. We have put up presentations, write-ups, solutions to the common problems faced by artists apart from the various emerging techniques in the field,’’ Vishakha said.
With the focus on the on-field work, the duo have also planned photo walks for those who want to take their skills to the next level and focus on emerging fields, including fine art, wedding, conceptual, industrial, outdoor and landscape photography.
“There is a lot of scope in the field now. We believe that passion and practice lead to understanding the language of photography, as it can capture life in all its magic,’’ Ratika said.
For Samia Singh, art is an exploration and immersive experience. “I have worked for many as an art director and was working on digital drawing. But an opportunity to study drawing and print-making in Florence has made me go back to the basics, which will be the focus of my classes,’’ said Samia, who works in various media and has a rich experience in art journaling too.
Samia’s classes will be customised and personalised starting with drawing. “The idea is to interact with the world and draw your own thoughts. I will encourage art lovers to draw from life and enjoy the meditative and immersing experience of observing and reinterpreting,’’ she said, adding that sketching will be both indoors and outdoors with other creative activities like making illustrations, painting wood and creating journals.
The trio, who have graduated from the Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore, are organising the workshop at their studio in Sec 35.
