Two arrested for gold theft

Two employees of the Manna Puran Company were arrested on Friday for allegedly stealing gold worth Rs 4 lakh from the Sector-9 showroom of the company on June 17.

Two employees of the Manna Puran Company were arrested on Friday for allegedly stealing gold worth Rs 4 lakh from the Sector-9 showroom of the company on June 17.

The two accused have been identified as Vishwa Ranjan Sahu,a resident of Baltana,and Venkat,a resident of Sector 4.

The case was registered by the police after the company,which finances loan against gold,discovered that 300 grams of gold were missing from the office.

“The key for the safe,in which the gold is kept,was either with Vishwa Ranjan Sahu or the manager of the company. Sahu,who is originally from Orissa,and Venkat,from Kerala,will be produced in court on Saturday,” said a police officer,adding that Sahu had told them that Venkat duplicated the keys to the safe to commit the theft.

The officer added that while the duo sold a share of the gold in Delhi,the rest was handed over by Sahu to his brother,who took it to Orissa.
