Himanshu Aggarwal gives the tricity a whole new business centre

While our city brags of umpteen hotels and restaurants, convention centres are a little hard to spot. And cashing in on the fact is Himanshu Aggarwal,Director of Pallavi Hotel, who threw open the gates of all-new Pallavi West Convention Centre in Panchkula today. Nestled in Sector 16 and spread across 3,000 square feet,“This one is a complete business centre and is WiFi enabled,” Aggarwal tells us that even the rooms here are designed to facilitate business travellers. “Ergonomic working desks, extra laptops, pen drives and printer, fax and photostat machines, everything’s been installed,” he lists adding that the location has been decided keeping in view its proximity from Baddi,IT Park and the government offices in Sector 2.

While they have already closed deals with State Bank of India for corporate packages, those with TISCO and SAIL are in the pipeline, says Aggarwal, who feels that recession has given him an opportunity to explore. “In wake of global correction, the demand for convention centres that are economical and fulfils the needs of a discerning business traveller is high,” Aggarwal tells us that he realized it while pursuing another business. “The parent company of Pallavi Hotel,Tara Chand Industries Ltd,deals in steel and iron and has got a fleet of cranes and heavy earth moving equipment and during the course of the business,we felt the need for a convention centre, that’s how the idea took shape,” says Aggarwal,as he moves on to describe facilities like banquet-cum-conference hall,16 rooms,a fine restaurant among others.
