To the POINT

Total hungama. What was meant to be a simple ‘say cheese’ talk and pose event turned into one big charade.

Total hungama. What was meant to be a simple ‘say cheese’ talk and pose event turned into one big charade. The moment news of TV star Mona Singh reached the ears of city-based lawyer Arvind Thakur,he dashed to the venue and stalled the press meet – all to hand-deliver court summons to Ms Singh! For the uninitiated,Mona and cricketer Harbhajan Singh whipped up quite a controversy with their Ravana-Sita act on a reality show last year. While Bhaji apologized on national network,an irked Mona shoots,“these are matters which are supposed to be dealt with officially. Tell him to mail my lawyers via registered post.” In town to mark the Oral Health Month in association with Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd and the Indian Dental Association (IDA),Mona interacted with children of migrant labour while docs including Dr Ramesh Fry,Secretary IDA Chandigarh branch conducted free dental check-ups. Arvind,on the other hand, parked himself outside MCM DAV College, waiting for Mona darling! “You can’t issue summons on the road,” says Mona, who came and left in a split second, leaving us lost in translation! While she refused to comment any further, she was more than happy to announce her forthcoming projects,3 Idiots and Laxman Rekha. “I don’t want to do soaps because one can’t get a character bigger than Jassi on TV. I love being an anchor and experimenting with different shows, and pursue an acting career in films,” says the actress. As for Arvind,he informed that the court has issued fresh bailable warrants of Mona Singh for October 8.

Meanwhile, another touch and go was with south’s superstar and Bollywood’s known face,R Madhavan. At Chandigarh Beckons (courtesy the manager Rajinder and Gurpreet Giani of Punjab Productions) Maddy was in town for a Wagon R commercial shoot, and man was he in a rush! “The light’s failing, and I seriously can’t give an interview,” he invited us in for a quick chat, but “no questions please”. But one does succumb to occupational hazards, and we did try and poke him about 3 Idiots, his blog and how things are way different down south. “I don’t blog,or have a twitter or facebook account ‘cause I travel too much…but yes,I’m pretty active when it comes to PETA activities and creating awareness on AIDS,” he dimples, leaving us with a “call me and we’ll talk at length.” Hmmm; another occupational hazard!

Smile,please!
