The Anti-Ragging Committee of the Panjab University has issued guidelines to all the authorities.

The Anti-Ragging Committee of the Panjab University has issued guidelines to all the authorities, duly approved by Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover,to prevent ragging on the campus.

All the authorities have been asked to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines. It has been decided that frequent rounds of PCR vehicles (clockwise and anti-clockwise) be arranged on both the Sector 14 campus and Sector 25 campus, and outside the campus till August 31.

The committee has asked the security office to provide additional security personnel on the campus and in the hostels. One security guard would be there on night duty in each hostel.

Directions have been issued to the Chief Security Officer to enure the functioning of CCTV cameras on the campus. In any case of ragging, according to UGC guidelines,an FIR should be lodged with the police by the head of the department or warden, where the incident takes place.

The anti-ragging committees at the departments have been asked to be active. Such committees consist of faculty members and senior research fellows. In hostels, wardens and senior residents of the hostels are entitled to keep tabs on any such odd happenings.

It has also been asked that a mandatory undertaking from all students (both old and new) as well as from their parents/guardians be obtained at the time of their admission to the hostels.

The Dean,University Instruction will be sending letters to all the department chairpersons across Panjab University to ensure the functioning of the department-level anti-ragging committees and submission of undertakings.
