Making use of the good batting strip at the Sector 16 stadium,Chandigarh batsmen_Jaskaranvir Sohi (122),Shivam Bhambri (150) and Gurinder Singh (139)_clobbered Mohali bowlers to score a ton each,on the first day of the U-22 match played during Punjab Inter-District cricket tournament to put their team in command. Led by their superlative performances with the bat,Chandigarh team piled up mammoth 477 runs for the loss of six wickets in 95 overs. Winning the toss and electing to bat Chandigarh lost their first wicket early when Veer Karan Goel were snapped on 1. Then buoyed by a double century stand (206) between Jaskaranveer Singh Sohi and Shivam Bhambri,Chandigarh reached at 223 runs for 2 in 39 overs. The stand was broken when Jaskaranveer Singh was caught by Gagandeep off Amrit Singh for 122 of 131 balls. Continuing with his fine form,Jaskaranvir hammered runs all over the park to stamp his authority. Thereafter,Bhambri and skipper Gurinder Singh stitched a valuable partnership of 145 runs for the third wicket to take Chandigarh way ahead. Shivam made 150,while Gurinder plundered 139 runs. Bhambri completed his century on his debut U-22 inter-district match. Chandigarh were 477 for 6 in 95 overs at close of first days play.

Akhil scores ton
In the second match played at PAU Ludhiana,hosts were bowled out for 323 in 93 overs by Patiala. Their innings were sustained by sixth-wicket stand of 103 runs between Akhil Aggarwal (127) and Himanshu Shelly (71). This was followed by a seven-wicket stand between Akhil Aggarwal and Davinder Sidhu. For Patiala,Amaninder Singh bowled well to take five wickets,giving away 75 runs.

Amritsar on backfoot
In the last match played at Burlton Park Jalandhar,Amritsar winning the toss and opted to bat first. But soon found themselves in trouble. They were bundled out for 168 in 63.2 overs Gurkerat Singh (4 for 22),Shubek Gill (2 for 42) and Yogesh Kumar (2 for 53) ran through the Amritsar batting line-up. Abhinav Sharma (32) and Aman Bawa (29) were the principal run scorers for Amritsar. In reply,Jalandhar were 106 for 1 in 29 overs at close of play. Pargat Singh was unbeaten on 62 while Abhishek Gupta was unbeaten on 16.
