Mohali police on Monday arrested three people in connection with last weeks kidnap,theft and extortion case in which the accused allegedly kidnapped two Mohali residents in their own Audi car and decamped with more than Rs 2 lakh,car papers and other valuables. Addressing the media,SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the three arrested were all different from the four originally booked based on the complaint of the victim Ravinder Singh,and have been identified as Talwinder Singh,24,from Muktsar,Pradeep Kumar,36,resident of Phase 7 who worked in a furniture market,and Gopal Krishna,43,resident of Phase 1,who is an automobile dealer. Bhullar said,the crime was the brainchild of Talwinder,who was a friend of the victim and stayed in a rented accomodation in Phase 4 while studying for IELTS,while Kumar dealt with the execution. Krishna,being an automobile dealer,arranged the transfer papers for the car. It was a well-planned attempt in which the accused had allegedly even recceed the house of the victim well in advance. Bhullar added that a special time headed by SP (Detective) Balwinder Singh and CIA in-charge Gurcharan Singh are investigating the case. The remaining three suspects are still on the run. On October 3,the police had booked nine persons on the complaint of victim Ravinder Singh,a website designer residing in Sector 70,who claimed that on the previous night,he and his friend Amrik Singh had been abducted from their house by five unknown assailants.
