Three youths were arrested by the Barara police on Tuesday evening for allegedly raping a girl. According to information,the victim,a resident of Shahabad,was waiting at the Basantpur Barara bus stand to board a bus,when the three youths in a car approached her and offered her a hitchhike. The girl accepted their offer and boarded the car,which left for Shahabad. On way,the youths allegedly under the influence of alcohol started molesting her. Thereafter,one of them identified as Amrik Singh,a resident of Rawa,raped her. While the youths were sexually abusing the girl in the moving car,a police vehicle on patrolling duty signalled them to stop. However,instead of stopping,they sped away. The police chased them and the car dashed into a tree,resulting in minor injuries to the youths. The police party arrested the three youths on the complaint of the victim. They were brought to the Barara police station and a case of rape was registered against them. They were produced in court on Wednesday.
