The city witnessed four cases of thefts at various places on Saturday. Unidentified persons decamped with cash and gold jewellery worth lakhs from a house in Sector 49 on Saturday. The complainant,Sector 49 resident Usha Kumari,complained to the police that burglars had broken the locks of the main door and stolen three gold chains,two pairs of gold earrings,eight gold rings,gold bangle,three pearl sets and Rs 30,000 in cash.

In a separate incident,a colour TV and gold earrings were reportedly stolen from a house in Sector 20 on the night intervening January 13/14. Police have a registered a case on the complaint of the house owner Sohan Lal.

Meanwhile,a native of Bihar was caught with a bag containing copper which had been stolen from a shop in Industrial Area on Saturday. Sanjeev Bansal,a resident of Sunny Enclave,Kharar,alleged that Muneer Alam was caught with a bag of copper stolen from his shop in MW Market,Industrial Area on Friday. Alam was arrested on charges of theft and a case in his regard has been registered at the Industrial Area Police station.
