The Jalandhar police on Wednesday busted a racket and arrested three persons involved in making fake financial documents such as bank statements and loan statements used in procuring student visas.
Those arrested are Atul Vashisht,a resident of Panchkula,who runs Daffodils Study Abroad centre at Sector 22,Chandigarh,Kamal Sehgal of Wariana,Jalandhar,who runs Taff Educations in Green Park,and Naresh Kumar of Jalandhar who runs Worldwide Career Consultants.
Commissioner of Police,Jalandhar,Gaurav Yadav,said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Satinder Singh had received information about the racket. The accused used to advertise and offer to prepare a file of documents for students who wanted to go abroad for higher studies.
Yadav said they fabricated bank statements showing fictitious amounts in bank accounts and statements showing student loans sanctioned to the applicant by reputed banks and submitted these documents to the embassies for procuring visas. ADCP Satinder said they charged a hefty fee of Rs 4 to 4.5 lakh for preparing these files.
The fourth accomplice identified as Pavit Brar,director of Education Boutique,Jalandhar,from where the other three were arrested,is yet to be nabbed. The police have,meanwhile,recovered the fake documents from the accused. Further investigation is on. A case has been registered under Sections 419,420,465,467,471,120-B of the IPC.
