Creativity was at its best at the VLCC Institutes Funky Fashion Marathon at Sector 34. Here, about 15 students put up an innovative show comprising nine collections on themes like murky Goth, hippy Bohemian,Retro Peacock,Chinese,Adam and Eve,Mermaid and fusion. Everything from dresses to make-up and hair have been done by the students who were inspired by life, culture and the vast sea of style around, says centre head Sapna.
For example,Akram created a retro look with noodle strap dress top and checked shorts,Alesha dressed her model in an overall black garb and highlighted the eyes to give a vamp-like look. As for Kulwant and Mandeep, they worked on the theme of Butterfly, with the model wearing a flowing black and white top with tights. The idea was to create something unique and customised for the model, says Gagan and Amrita, who dressed their model in a Chinese attire because she had small eyes. Elsewhere,Sukriti and Monica worked hard to create the nude look of Adam and Eve with natural resources like leaves, fruits and flowers. They completed their Adam and Eve look by making body tattoos, assuring them the first prize in the competition. Your attire reflects you and we wanted to depict the need to go natural, the duo say. The other two collections that got a round of applause were on the theme of Retro and Glam Gothic Vamps,as part of which Laxmi displayed a bright and bold printed top with a sleek gold belt and peacock features in her hair while Bhanu and her group fitted the Goth look in short black dresses with minimalist make-up.
