The British Councils international programme,Darwin Now,in collaboration with DLF,exhibits the life and work of Charles Darwin,at DLF City Centre Mall. The exhibition explores Darwins life, how he came up with his ground-breaking theory of evolution by natural selection, and how his ideas are still relevant today. The exclusive exhibition has been created by the British Council to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Darwins birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his book On the Origin of Species . We chose the venue, for we want to get young people interested in science and not restrict the knowledge to the confines of the library. The format of the exhibition is such, that it will both impact and engage people and create awareness, explained Charlie Walker of the British Council. The exhibition sheds light on contemporary reactions to Darwins theories of evolution and how advances in fields as diverse as geology and economics influenced his thinking. It is designed to explore the importance of the theory of evolution to the contemporary world and modern science and highlights the work of several UK-based researchers who are pushing back the boundaries of evolutionary science. Charles Darwin represents an excellent example of the UKs contribution to scientific thought, and stands as an exemplar of the application of scientific method – careful observation supported by painstakingly collected evidence in support of his theories – together with extensive collaboration with correspondents from around the world. The exhibition is on till September 28.
