Teachers put forth demands to DPI

Members of Government Teachers’ Union,UT Chandigarh,today put forth their long-pending demands to UT’s Director Public Instruction (Schools),Sandeep Hans and District Education Officer,Chanchal Singh at a conference held in Moti Ram Arya school,Sector 27.

The key demands of the teachers include filling up about 400 vacant posts reserved for promotion under various cadres before September 5 this year,assurance of teachers safety,abolition of contract system in hiring.

While addressing the gathering Sandeep Hans,stated that the Education department had started looking into the demands included in the charter. He said the demands listed by GTU should be termed as “pending works” and not “demands” since according to him they form a part of the rights entitled to the teachers.
