Playing a controlled game,Sumit Talwar ended the challenge of Sandeep Duggal to emerge as the winner in the snooker category on the concluding day of the 25th State Billiards and Snooker Championship in Chandigarh. In the billiards category,Arif Akhtar claimed the title by defeating Sumit Talwar in the final. In the snooker final,both the players started off pretty well and played good snooker making life difficult for there respective opponents. In the dying minutes of the first frame,Sumit took a lead of 20 points. Sumit then showed his complete dominance in the first frame as he claimed the first frame with a margin of 60-38. The second frame was a narrow one as Duggal also showed a spirited display of snooker. Talwar emerged as triumphant in the second frame as he claimed the second frame narrowly with the margin of 55-62. In the third frame,Sumit was at his best and was eying the ball well. Sumit was controlling his ball and made a break of 61 points at the start of the frame and took the final frame with a margin of 61-32. The final score was 60-38,55-52,61-32. Billiards final was an exhibition of controlled game along with some aggressive play between Arif Akhtar and Sumit Talwar. In the first frame both players made small breaks of 30 points and were moving neck to neck. Arif made an unfinished break of 28 to take the first frame 100-62. In the second and third frame it was Sumit who made unfinished beaks of 45 and 56 to win the frames 100-66 and 100-57. In the fourth frame,Arif took a lead from the beginning and won 100-61. In the final frame,Sumit started well and was leading 64-25 at one stage. But Arif showed his class and elegance as he kept his cool and made an unfinished break of 75. Arif won the final frame with a margin of 100-64 to win the title. The final score was 100-62,66-100,57-100,100-61,100-64 in favour of Arif Akhtar.
