Former Union Minister Harmohan Dhawan on Sunday rued that joining the Congress party and supporting Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal during the 1999 elections was the biggest mistake of his life.
Dhawan also said that it was with his support that Bansal had then won the elections.
Addressing a conference on Sunday,Dhawan said,Bansal claims that he has no business ties with Vijay Singla. However,Bansal trusts no one but his own relatives. Even the two OSDs of Bansal are distant relatives of his. The CBI should investigate the issue and it will come out that Vijay Singla used to visit Rail Bhawan.
Dhawan demanded that Bansal should either resign or the Congress should dismiss him.
There are several properties owned by Vijay Singla in and around the city. His wife,Madhu Bansal,is in charge when he is not in the city. She calls up officers to get the work done, Dhawan stated.
Dhawan said it was his mistake to have supported Bansal in the 1999 elections. He added that he will ensure that Bansal loses in the forthcoming elections.
Dhawan also said that Bansal rose from riding a moped to now having become a billionaire. He said that when Bansal is neither a businessman nor is he practising the law, there should be an investigation on how he amassed his wealth.
