The Syndicate meeting of the Panjab University (PU),scheduled to be held on Sunday, will have several issues on the platter.
The members are likely to contemplate action,if any,to be taken against SD College,Sector 32,which allegedly admitted students to the BA (Psychology) course without prior affiliation for the same.
The matter had come to light when students did not get question papers on the day of their final examination.
The PU authorities stated that since the college has not got affiliation for the course, they are not liable for the non-availability of question papers. A committee constituted by the PU to investigate the matter reported that the act amounts to concealing of information from students and the strictest action should be taken against them.
The final decision on the matter would be taken by the Syndicate.
Another significant issue to be discussed at the meeting pertains to the additional seats demanded by colleges for the new session.
The item on the agenda states that the University would allocate additional seats to colleges only after August 3,which is the deadline beyond which colleges need to seek prior permission from PU for admitting any student. By doing so,the item explains, the University would be able to keep a check on fraudulent admissions.
Highly-placed sources maintain that the Syndicate will also discuss the issue of readmitting six students expelled by the University for ragging,in 2008.
