In an embarassment for the Chandigarh Police,a scooter belonging to a Sub-Inspector was stolen today along with a challan book which was lying in the scooter. According to Sub-Inspector Desh Raj Singh,who is presently posted in the Sector 39 police station,his scooter was stolen from Sector 37 four days ago. However,he lodged a complaint only yesterday and got a case registered stating that his scooter has been stolen. A departmental enquiry has been ordered against the Sub-Inspector on account of negligence. The traffic challan book was issued to Desh Raj one-and-half months ago. When questioned by senior police officers for his negligence,the Sub-Inspector replied that he was busy in the security arrangements for Janmashatmi on August 22 when his scooter was stolen. He disclosed about the challan book only when he was questioned about it.
