A day after the Punjab Roadways employees declared a strike and stalled the movement of their buses at various places because of issues with the time table announced by the State Transport Authority (STA),the matter was settled amicably on Friday.
The Punjab Roadways had gone on a strike after the STA had asked its buses to wait for three minutes at parking stops in the city, but for their own buses, the waiting time was ten minutes.
Irked over the decision, the roadways employees stalled their buses and refused to take passengers, who were left harassed in scorching heat for more than five hours. The strike was called off after the intervention of STA and CTU officials.
A meeting of representatives of the Punjab roadways was called at the STA office and a revised time table was formed. All the bus service providers of Punjab as well as the CTU have been granted a uniform wait time of four minutes. The decision was unanimously taken during the meeting.
Meanwhile, taking note of the harassment faced by passengers because of the issue, the unions were directed that they should not take steps in future that would troubles the passengers.
