Playing in a day and night match amid more than 300 cricket-lovers,Saupin's Cricket Academy inflicted a four-wicket win over Ryan Cricket Academy in the semi-final match of Saupin's Eugene Memorial Cricket Cup Under-10 played at the ground of Saupin's School-32 in Chandigarh on Saturday.

Saupin’s Academy wins day-night semi-final match

CHANDIGARH:Playing in a day and night match amid more than 300 cricket-lovers,Saupin’s Cricket Academy inflicted a four-wicket win over Ryan Cricket Academy in the semi-final match of Saupin’s Eugene Memorial Cricket Cup Under-10 played at the ground of Saupin’s School-32 in Chandigarh on Saturday. With this win,Saupin’s Cricket Academy have stormed into the final of the tournament.

Batting first,Ryan Cricket Academy scored total of 62 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Dhruv (10) and Gurkirat (12) were the main scorers for Ryan. Saupin’s Cricket Academy bowlers bowled a superb spell to restrict the opposition batsmen. Dhruv (2 for 10) and Ayush (2 for 12) emerged as most successful bowlers for Saupin’s. In reply,Saupin’s Cricket Academy: achieved the target in 10.3 overs losing six wickets. Prabhjit Singh (25) and Anhad (15) were main contributors for Saupin’s Academy. Second semi-final match will be played on August 28 in the evening.

Chandigarh eves record 10-wkt win
CHANDIGARH:
Defending champions Chandigarh U-19 eves started their domestic campaign with a bang,registering a facile 10-wicket win over Patiala in the first match of the Under-19 Punjab Inter-District Cricket Tournament for women played at the GNPS-36 ground in Chandigarh on Sunday.

On winning the toss,Patiala team decided to bat first. Chandigarh’s opening medium-pacer,Sunaina bowled superbly to provide early breakthrough to Chandigarh. She grabbed two wickets in the second over. Patiala opener,Nidhi stuck to the job and scored highest 29 runs,while coming one-down,Noopur chipped in with useful knock of 28 runs. Later,leg-spinner Gagan proved lethal as she dismissed four Patiala batswomen including both the in-form batswomen Nidhi and Noopur. Though,Chandigarh eves bowled wayward line and length which resulted in 21 extras. In reply,formidable Chandigarh team achieved the target in just 18.5 overs without losing any wicket. Chandigarh openers Aakriti (40) and Tanya Bhatia (21) remained unbeaten.

Chandigarh will take on Hoshiarpur in their next inter-district match on August 25 at GNPS-36 in Chandigarh.

Cricket tourney from Aug 29
PANCHKULA:
Hosts Hansraj Public School,Panchkula,will take on Cricket Stadium,Panchkula Coaching centre in the opening match of the BK Black Cup Under-12 Inter-Academy League Cricket Tournament,starting from August 29 at Hans Raj Public School ground,Sector 6. The matches are of 20-overs duration and each teams will lay three league matches. The top two teams qualify for the final. The teams who are participating in the event are Hans Raj Cricket Academy,Panchkula,Cricket Stadium Panchkula Coaching Centre,Bhawan Blaster Cricket Academy,Panchkula and District Panchkula Cricket Association,Panchkula. Meanwhile,the hosts have announced their U-12 team.
