Sounds and Sensibilities

It was the unique concept that got MTV’s music show Sound Trippin rave reviews

It was the unique concept that got MTV’s music show Sound Trippin rave reviews. The show was credited for bringing the groove back to MTV after the channel moved away from its music content to swamp us with reality shows and later,Coke Studio Season 1,which also failed in reeling out good content. Sound Trippin had composer Sneha Khanwalkar exploring everyday sounds and putting them to music. Just as we were warming up to the tunes in Season 2,currently on air,the producers have decided to replace Khanwalkar with multi-percussionist Karsh Kale and Delhi-based electronic artiste Nucleya. The two have already shot for the next four episodes which will be aired after Khanwalkar’s five episodes.

Chandrashekhar L,Vice President,Programming,Commercial and musical content,MTV,says,“We decided to make Season 2 a mixed project to add to the surprise element. The moment you bring in new musicians, they bring in their own fan base. It changes expectation and gives a fresh perspective.” Kale and Udyan Sagar aka Nucleya, who have also been part of The Dewarists, another show in the travel music show category, are well-known to the Indian audience.
