Internationally acclaimed classical singer,Pt. Kaivalya Kumar Gurav of Kiraana Gharana,from Dharwar,Karnataka,will perform Abhang and Natya Sangeet at an evening of Indian classical music organized by the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi,in collaboration with Indian National Theatre. A sublime form of Indian classical music,the origin of Abhang can be traced to the spiritual ideologies of the bhakti saints of Maharashtra. Natya Sangeet,on the other hand,is an essential tool in Indian theatre,and has been used in classical Sanskrit plays,folk and tribal dramas and also in contemporary plays across India. The performance is at Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan Auditorium,Sector 27,Chandigarh on 17th April,at 7:00 pm.
