Police in Mohali have arrested two accused in connection with the recent murder case in Sohana. Providing details, DSP City-2 Harsimran Singh Bal informed that under the supervision of SHO Inspector Amandeep Singh, Sohana police arrested Harnur Singh, alias Noor, and Dharampreet Singh, alias Preet, both residents of Sector 70, Mohali.
According to police, on the night of September 4, the attackers assaulted Tarandeep Singh along with his brother and father, using sharp-edged weapons near Dera Sahib Gurdwara, Frato Tower in Sohana village, Mohali. When Tarandeep’s uncle Kamaljit Singh tried to intervene, he too was injured. During the assault, Tarandeep’s father, Paramjit Singh, succumbed to his injuries.
Tarandeep had reported that on September 4, he, his younger brother Parvinder, and their father were returning home from Dhanas after purchasing a second-hand Scorpio vehicle. On the way, they also bought sweets as offerings.
“When we reached near our house, a white Fortuner car following us suddenly stopped, and the occupants – shouting religious slogans – attacked us with swords,” the complainant said.
He further alleged that the attackers were known to him as shopkeepers of a garment store named Vintage Look. “They struck my father with kirpans, and when my uncle Kamalpreet, cousin Satvinder, Onkar, and other family members came forward to save us, the assailants attacked them too with kirpans and sharp-edged weapons. They also beat us, vandalised our vehicle, and threatened us before fleeing the spot,” he added.
The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital, Phase 6, where doctors declared Paramjit dead.
