Sohana assault and murder case: Two arrested, probe on

Based on Tarandeep’s statement, police registered a case at Sohana police station under sections 103, 351(2), 3(5), and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police immediately put the entire district on alert, formed special teams, and examined CCTV footage, which led to the arrest of the two accused. The investigation is still underway.

Tarandeep had reported that on September 4, he, his younger brother Parvinder, and their father were returning home from Dhanas after purchasing a second-hand Scorpio vehicle. On the way, they also bought sweets as offerings.

“When we reached near our house, a white Fortuner car following us suddenly stopped, and the occupants – shouting religious slogans – attacked us with swords,” the complainant said.

He further alleged that the attackers were known to him as shopkeepers of a garment store named Vintage Look. “They struck my father with kirpans, and when my uncle Kamalpreet, cousin Satvinder, Onkar, and other family members came forward to save us, the assailants attacked them too with kirpans and sharp-edged weapons. They also beat us, vandalised our vehicle, and threatened us before fleeing the spot,” he added.

The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital, Phase 6, where doctors declared Paramjit dead.
