Season’s Cheer

What a year it has been for all of us! There have been highs and lows, ups and downs.

With Christmas and New Year around the bend, the party scene in the city has shifted gears

What a year it has been for all of us! There have been highs and lows, ups and downs. For some time now the city’s mood-o-meter has been rather somber, partly because of all that gloomy talk about economic meltdowns and global recession. But thankfully,it’s been a passing phase and invites to let your hair down and have a good time have re-appeared once again. After all,Christmas and the New Year are around the bend. To get the momentum going,pre-yearender parties are already adding the season’s cheer. Here are the early movers and shakers:

Christmas calling:It’s perhaps the much looked forward to event not just on this fashion institute’s roster but the city’s party scene as well. The annual pre-New Year and Christmas bash of the Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) rolled out on expected lines at Jat Bhawan in Sector 27 this Tuesday afternoon. While the venue was decorated in Christmas colours – red, white and green along with pretty mistletoes, buntings and lights, the students made the most of the dress code as well. The highlight was a huge backdrop handpainted by the INIFD Interior Design students showing the arrival of Santa on his famous sledge at midnight. Also the centre of attraction was the decked up Christmas tree and the students made it a point to include it in all their photoshoots! The arrival of Santa Claus and distribution of gifts added to the festive spirit. Getting the students to dance on festive tunes was DJ Bhanu while the Christmas carols were sung by the faculty members. As always, the bash packed in fun games and contests with titles like ‘Best Dancer’,‘Best Dressed’ being given away.

Big bash:Timing the opening of their all-new lounge bar with a pre-Christmas event is Hotel Metro in Sector 35 with ‘Hangout’. Tucked away in the basement,Hangout boasts of lots of space and style! “We have given it a techno-electric feel with hot neon colours, gleaming in the dark and our special colour fall schemes,” mentioned managing director Jairaj Singh. Boasting of 160 covers and a magnanimous dance floor,Hangout is all set to pump up the volume and make the city’s party scene happening. “While Saturdays will host club nights with a variety of music,we are going all out with our year-end and pre-Christmas bashes,” mentioned resident DJ Tarun who teams up with DJ Gaurav back home from Italy. While December 24 will see the two DJs spin some fun,Christmas will pack in a Page 3 Night. “We will also be bringing in celebrity DJs to add to the excitement,” chorused the two. To add to the cheer,Hangout will offer a special menu that boasts of more than 50 kebabs to choose from!

Ladies’ day out:Taking time out from hectic lives packed with chores and schedules, members of the newly formed forum ‘Aspiration’ decided to “merrily” and innovatively usher in the New Year, albeit much in advance. A special theme-based party was organised this Tuesday at Noodle Bar in Sector 26 that saw the ladies turn up in full strength. With the theme being Dev Anand’s super hit ‘Hare Rama,Hare Krishna’,there was many a Zeenat Aman spotted on the dance floor. “Aspiration is here to build bonds of friendship and what better way than to get into the party spirit as this is the year’s most awaited time,” mentioned founder member Monica Singhal as the ladies truly let their hair down.
