SASE gets ISO certification

The establishment has been certified up to 2015

Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) has received ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Certification by Directorate of Standardisation,Testing and Quality Certification (STQC),Department of Information Technology. The certification would increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the establishment.

The certificate was presented to SASE director Ashwagosha Ganju by STQC director general N E Prasad. The establishment has been certified up to 2015.

Ganju emphasised the need for research and development laboratories to get QMS certification to make the system transparent with focus on procedural correctness and timeliness. With increased efficiency in the system,the user of the techniques developed by them would be benefited.

SASE deputy director Jimmy Kansal said it was the endeavour of the establishment to have around 90 per cent accuracy of avalanche forecast as well as ensure safe mobility of the troops. Among the benefits of the certification would be technical file management system.
