Sarul,Vishwas crack impressive tons

Sarul Kanwar and Vishwas Bhalla dispalyed their batting prowess,hitting centuries each on Day One of the final match.

Sarul Kanwar and Vishwas Bhalla dispalyed their batting prowess,hitting centuries each on Day One of the final match being played between Katoch Shield winners,Chandigarh and Rest of Punjab,at the PCA stadium in Mohali. Sarul made flawless 121 while skipper Vishwas Bhalla is still at the crease with an unbeaten score of 106.

Rest of Punjab led by Ravi Inder Singh,won the toss and opted to field. Their decision of bowling first worked out well as new ball bowler Navdeep Singh removed opener Amit Parashar early in the innings. After having initial success,Rest of Punjab bowlers were up against a resolute second-wicket partnership of 184 runs off 271 balls,between opener Sarul Kanwar and skipper Vishwas Bhalla. Sarul was the senior partner in this partnership and went on to hammer a strokeful 121 off 149 balls. His punishing innings was studded with 12 well executed boundaries and 5 towering sixes. Navdeep Singh struck again for Rest of Punjab team,as he sent Sarul packing with the team’s total reading 193 for 2.It maybe recalled that Sarul made over 750 runs last season for Chandigarh.Vishwas was then joined by Gurkirat Walia who did not last long as he was trapped in front by left-arm spinner Ankur Kakkar with team’s total reading 215 for 3. Thereafter,Vishwas stitched an unbeaten partnership of 80 runs of 189 balls with Gaurav Gupta. In the process Vishwas completed a well made ton. His knock unbeaten knock of 106 came off 252 balls which included 10 boundaries and one six.Navdeep Singh from Jalandhar was the only bowler to bowl with some venom and returned with impressive figures of 23-3-81-2. He was unlucky not to have Chandigarh Vishwas’s wicket as he was dropped in the first slip by Pankaj Dharmani. Rest of Punjab bowler,Manpreet Gony failed to trouble the batsmen. Chandigarh were 295 for 3 in 90 over at the end of days play.
