Sanitation campaign flagged off

A Sanitation campaign was flagged off on Thursday by Municipal Commissioner Dr Roshan Sunkaria.

A Sanitation campaign was flagged off on Thursday by Municipal Commissioner Dr Roshan Sunkaria.

The campaign,part of the Partnership Initiative Programme saw students of Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 35,take out a rally to garner support of the residents for co-operation in maintaining sanitation.

Nearly 100 safaikaramcharis with machinery have been deputed for sweeping,collection and removal of garbage.

Three mechanical road sweepers along with trolleys were pressed into service for cleaning the roads and lifting of garbage.

Sewer cleaning machine were also deputed by the Engineering Wing of Municipal Corporation for lifting road side construction waste.

SPCA has also made special arrangements for lifting stray dogs for sterilisation along with cattle catching team of MC to check the stray cattle nuisance.

Information,education and communication pamphlets were distributed among residents to bring about a change in their

attitude towards management of solid waste.

Also present on the occasion were councillor Harjinder Kaur,FOSWAC chairman P C Sanghi,

members of Residents Welfare Associations,Medical Officer of Health

Dr G Dewan and chief engineer S K Bansal along with other officers.
