Retired judge takes oath

He had been awaiting his elevation to the High Court Bench,but when the Supreme Court nod finally arrived,Judge Sat Paul Bangarh had already retired. In a rare event,the retired judge took oath as a Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge on Friday.

He had been awaiting his elevation to the High Court Bench,but when the Supreme Court nod finally arrived,Judge Sat Paul Bangarh had already retired. In a rare event,the retired judge took oath as a Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge on Friday. Justice Sat Paul Bangarh had retired on February 29 upon attaining the age of superannuation,after which,the Supreme Court collegium cleared his name for elevation. He was among four lower court judges who were elevated and were administered oath on Friday. The other three are: R P Nagrath (High Court Registrar),Rekha Mittal (Punjab Legal Remembrancer) and Inderjit Singh Walia (Jalandhar). With the three taking oath,the High Court bench strength has now reached 43 as against the sanctioned strength of 68.
