Regional SARAS Mela from October 4 to 13 at Punjab Agricultural University: Ludhiana DC

During this 10-day mega event, performers from various states will showcase their culture and heritage.

The 4th Regional SARAS Mela 2025 will be held in Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, from October 4 to 13.

Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain held a meeting with officials from various departments at Bachat Bhawan on Tuesday. To ensure the smooth execution of the mela, Jain said the event will be overseen by Mela Officer-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Amarjeet Bains and Assistant Mela Officer-cum- Employment Generation & Skill Development Training Officer Jeevandeep Singh.  He also constituted panels comprising officials from different departments with specific responsibilities.

The DC elaborated that tasks such as stall allotment, daily sales reporting, daily ticket sales, consistent supply of clean drinking water and arranging medical facilities at the mela and accommodation sites were assigned to nodal officers. Police will manage security and traffic arrangements, and a control room will be established at the mela venue.

Jain also said the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana will handle cleaning, tent setup, and water sprinkling. The mela will also feature amusement rides and cultural performances by artists. The panels from various departments were formed and assigned duties to ensure all necessary arrangements are in place.

The DC also highlighted that over 1,400 artisans, craftsmen, traders, and skilled individuals from various states will participate in the mela, with thousands of visitors expected daily for shopping and enjoyment. More than 600 stalls will be set up by artisans and craftsmen from across the country.

During this 10-day mega event, performers from various states will showcase their culture and heritage. He noted that Ludhiana is hosting the SARAS Mela for the fourth time, following successful editions in 2012, 2017, and 2023.
