This Sunday,the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi is all set to light up the screen with a film on eminent artist SH Raza. Directed by Paris-based Laurent Bregeat,the 55-minute film The Very Essence is part of the documentary series,“Living Legends of Indian Contemporary Art”,commissioned by the Akademi. The film is a window to Raza’s life in France,and how he kept the Indian element in his works alive. It is made up of a series of conversations with the artist — bringing out his ideology,the meaning of his art and how he faced criticism,especially for the repetitive use of bindu. The Very Essence has been produced by Lalit Kala Akademi,New Delhi,and edited by Shan Mohammed and Bregeat.

The film will be screened on May 26,11:30 am,at Government Museum & Art Gallery ,Sector 10-C,Chandigarh

A Class Act

Without Walls,an organisation working with children,is all set to make this summer break exciting for the young ones. They have mapped out a learning odyssey to help children learn topics that are not taught as a discipline but learned over a lifetime of experiences. For this,they will hold separate workshops for different age-groups. For ages 4-7 years,topics ranging from vocabulary building to world landmarks and personalities will be taught. For children aged 7 and above,there will be focus on creative writing and vocabulary building,and other topics such as famous personalities,world history and current developments,fine arts and geography.
