Rain washes away construction material

The spell of rain that lashed the township in the afternoon on Thursday caused a lot of inconvenience to residents,as parking lots in two sectors,which are awaiting repair work,witnessed waterlogging. Construction material,which was lying unused for over a month,was washed away by the rain,making the road slippery and prone to accidents.

The Haryana Urban Development Authority had started the widening of the two parking lots in the inner market of Sector 10 and Sector 16 around three months ago. Today,water got accumulated near the parking lots and residents had a tough time wading through it on their way to the market. This was the second time in three days that the parking lots got waterlogged.

Shopkeepers rued that they had asked the HUDA to complete the work and also recarpet the road near the market,as deep potholes had made driving a bumpy and difficult task. On Thursday,too,the areas had witnessed the same problem and shopkeepers claimed to have requested the authorities concerned to take immediate steps.

“HUDA officials know that it is the onset of monsoon,so

they need to complete the pending work. In case the widening has been stalled for some reasons,which is highly likely as there has been no contractor in sight for over a month,they should take away the material,” said former municipal councillor BB Singal.
