The Chandigarh Meteorological Centre has predicted a dry and clear weekend for the Union Territory but cautioned about a fresh western disturbance starting Monday. MET officials told The Indian Express that light rain is expected on February 26.

The rain will bring down the daytime temperature but the minimum temperature is predicted to rise to 11 degree Celsius, they added.

“Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be clear, dry, and sunny, so people can enjoy this weekend as the temperatures are also normal. A western disturbance is approaching on February 26 and 27 and ahead of that minimum nighttime temperatures can increase,” a senior MET department official said.

He added, “Before last week’s rain, nighttime temperatures increased up to 16 degree Celsius because of the cloudy weather. Now, as the days (Friday-Sunday) will be clear and dry, there will be a chill in the night.”

For the last few days, the minimum temperature has been around 8 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature is hovering around 24 degree Celsius in Chandigarh.

In the wee hours of Friday (February 23), the minimum temperature recorded in Chandigarh was 8 degree Celsius – a departure of 4 degree Celsius below normal.
